blogger is changing.

After typing out several dramatic opening sentences to this (sad) post, I finally just decided to open up with the sentence "After typing out several dramatic opening sentences to this (sad) post, I finally just decided to open up with the sentence "After typing out several dramatic opening sentences to this (sad) post, blah blah blah blah blah."

Anyway. All day, I have been trying to delete my header (sound a bit crazy?) and install a new header using an HTML code. And the worst of it? Blogger won't let me delete my header and install a new header using an HTML code.

I found an adorable summer-y kit for blog designing and decided to use it. In about an hour, I had a decent template and decided to install it.

Why did I want to install my blog design after installing a different one previously? Why didn't Blogger let me save my changes to my template? Well, apparently, Blogger is switching layouts and is putting in a new thingymabobber that allows you to NOT edit HTML codes.

The whole stoy is that Blogger has been planning this for a while, and they are excited to release it. Only those who have "Blogger in Draft" as their default dashboard have discovered this, while many others haven't a clue.

I checked out BD (Blogger in Draft) and realized, after checking out a Wordpress sample blog, that the soon-to-be-installed Blogger layout is very similiar to the Wordpress layout. With that in mind, most of you Wordpress users know that you are only allowed to edit CSS (cascading style sheets) on Wordpress. That is how it will be with Blogger. No more editing all of that confusing (but to me, and many others, exciting and mysterious) HTML. Instead, Blogger users will be forced to use cookie-cutter templates for their blogs, rather than creating their own designs.

---

So, what do you think about all of this? Personally, I am angry, frustrated, and very sad at the same time. Blogger is the only HTML edit-able site that I know of, and I've stayed with Blogger for ever since I started blogging. From in 2009 to now, I've been with Blogger, and have always enjoyed editing HTML. But now, the idea of not being to edit it anymore is shocking to me.

---

However, I'm not sure if my trouble with removing a header is caused by Blogger switching layouts. Perhaps it's just something wrong with the template or something wrong with my blog. But if you have any idea what I'm doing wrong, it would mean a lot to me if you would make a suggestion in a comment. Thanks!

So please, bear with me while I try to get my blog all straightened out and stuff. And by the way, over here you can sign a petition asking Blogger to let us edit HTML. Please do sign it. It would mean a lot.

Thank you. <3

So, what is your opinion on all of this? Do share!

  1. Now I'm angry!!! How dare blogger take away our "edit HTML" button!?!?!?! That's one of the best things about blogger! How could they possibly be excited to give us some silly cookie cutter templates? Honestly, how much space does a inch long button take up?

I really hope they don't do it. I did all I could do to prevent it (which wasn't much). Which was sign an online petition! Now I'm going to go make a button and put it up on my blog.. It's going to say something along the lines of "Don't take out "edit HTML" button away, blogger! "

  2. I agree so much with Jeneca. She said it all. They can't do that! I'm gonna write a letter to them and complain so bad.. They just can't do this to us!

  4. I looked at my HTML one day, scrolled through it, and went to another web-page... All I know is that HTML is confusing, but I can see how some people would be very into it.
